Looking for a trichologist in Bristol?

Most people who search for a trichologist in Bristol are not looking for a job title. They are looking for someone who will examine their scalp properly, tell them what is actually happening, and be honest about whether anything can be done.

That is what this clinic does. Tarek is a hair loss and scalp specialist who trained in trichology under Mr Mark Birch, MAST (Fellow), senior consultant trichologist, covering the anatomy of hair and scalp, the main hair and scalp disorders, the types of hair loss conditions and their treatments.

He examines your hair and scalp under a microscope, shows you the images on screen, takes a baseline record, and reviews your progress against it every 2 months. Where a case needs medical investigation or referral beyond the clinic's scope, he will say so and recommend it before any treatment begins.

See what happens in the consultation

What he focuses on

His focus is understanding the patient's existing hair and scalp, preserving and restoring what can be preserved, and only then considering whether hair transplantation is necessary.

He has turned people away from treatments they have asked for when he did not believe they were suitable or likely to benefit. His wider philosophy across the clinic is that treatment should only be recommended when it is genuinely appropriate for the patient.

The Hampton approach, foundation first

The central philosophy is to address the foundation before replacing hair. Understand what is happening to the existing hair, assess what remains viable, work on preserving and restoring what can be restored, and then reassess before considering transplantation.

A useful way I explain this philosophy is with a forest fire analogy. If a forest is burning, you do not start by planting new trees. You first stop the fire, assess the damage, repair the environment and save what can still be saved. Only after that do you replace what has genuinely been lost.

In the room

He starts by discussing your hair loss history, how it has progressed and any treatments you may have previously tried. He then examines your hair and scalp under a microscope, which allows a close look at the condition of the scalp, the affected areas and the hair that remains.

Importantly, he shows you what he can see. This lets you better understand what is happening with your own hair rather than simply being told that you need a particular treatment.

Hair, and the confidence that comes with it

Hair loss is rarely only about hair. Over the years Tarek has helped hundreds of people restore not only their hair but also their confidence, and that is the part of the work he describes as the most rewarding.

It is also why the clinic is unhurried by design. Appointments run 45 to 60 minutes, there is no pressure to proceed, and if the honest answer is that treatment is not appropriate, you will be told.

Continuity through to surgery

Where a hair transplant is appropriate, procedures are carried out in Turkey with Acıbadem Kartal Hospital using DHI or FUE techniques depending on the individual case.

Care does not stop when you leave Bristol. Tarek personally accompanies patients to Turkey, providing continuity and support from the initial assessment and foundation stage through to the transplant journey.

Microscopic images are taken on the first visit. Progress is then formally reviewed every 2 months, so what changed is compared against a record rather than against recollection. Drag any slider to compare.

I have been coming here for a very long time for laser hair growth treatment. I originally knew Tarek from a previous clinic, and I have continued to trust him. It never feels rushed or clinical in a cold way. There is always good conversation, genuine care, and a real personal touch, which makes a big difference.
Bianca
I am impressed, and learnt a lot at my hair loss consultation today at The Hampton Clinic Bristol. They explained everything, what is the cause of my thinning hair, and advised what I should use and take.

Questions

Before
you book.

Am I suitable for hair restoration treatment?

Suitability varies from person to person. The assessment establishes whether there is enough viable hair remaining to realistically work with. If Tarek does not believe treatment is appropriate or likely to benefit you, he will tell you rather than recommend treatment for the sake of treating you.

Will I be pressured into starting treatment?

No. Our consultations are designed to provide honest advice and help you make an informed decision. Whether you choose to proceed with treatment or not, we want every patient to leave feeling informed and confident they have been given honest advice.

When will I start seeing results?

Hair restoration is a gradual process and results vary between individuals. Microscopic images are taken at the beginning to establish a baseline, and progress is formally reviewed every 2 months so changes can be compared objectively rather than from memory.
