Radio frequency
skin tightening in
Bristol
Controlled energy used to heat tissue beneath the skin. It plays several roles in a body contouring programme, but it is particularly useful where skin laxity and tightening are the concern rather than fat alone.
In short
What is Radio frequency?
Radio frequency at The Hampton Clinic in Bristol uses controlled energy to heat tissue beneath the skin, delivered on the 3D-Lipo UltimatePro platform. It is used when addressing body contour and the appearance of cellulite, and is particularly useful where skin laxity and tightening are also concerns, with the controlled heating effect supporting collagen remodelling.

What radio frequency does
Radio frequency uses controlled energy to heat tissue beneath the skin, and it plays several roles within a body contouring programme.
It can be used when addressing body contour and the appearance of cellulite, but it is particularly useful where skin laxity and tightening are also concerns.
The controlled heating effect supports collagen remodelling, helping to improve the appearance and firmness of the treated skin over time.
When laxity is the real concern
A good number of the people who come to us about their body are not really describing fat. They are describing skin that no longer sits the way it used to, often after weight loss or after a change in body shape.
That is a different problem and it needs a different answer. Treating fat where the concern is laxity does not get anyone where they want to be, which is one of the reasons the assessment comes before the machine.
Where this sits in your plan, whether it is used on its own or alongside something else, and how many sessions we recommend, all follow from the assessment rather than from a package chosen in advance.
Where it sits in a programme
Radio frequency is one of four technologies on the 3D-Lipo UltimatePro, alongside cryolipolysis, cavitation and shockwave therapy.
Because the change develops over time rather than in a session, progress is reviewed through the course and the programme adjusted where appropriate. Where suitable, measurements and photographs are taken at the start so what changed is compared against a record.

After
BeforeThese are patients of the clinic who completed body contouring programmes, published with their consent and without retouching. Programmes combine technologies according to what the assessment finds, so these are results from a programme rather than from this technology used alone. Results vary between individuals.

What the evidence says
Radio frequency is used for two different jobs, and the evidence is stronger for one than the other.
The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery describes radio frequency as delivering controlled energy that creates heat deep within tissue, and for non invasive skin tightening states results take at least three to six months. For use on body fat specifically it notes the technology is not yet FDA approved, though it is used in practice. It also lists contraindications including pacemakers, defibrillators and aneurysms.
That is why we describe radio frequency here as most useful where skin laxity and tightening are the concern, and why the change is described as developing over time rather than appearing in a session.
Suitability
Honest about who
it is for.
It may suit you if
- Loose or lax skin is part of what is bothering you, not just fat
- Your body shape has changed following weight loss
- You want firmness in the treated area as well as contour
- You are content for the improvement to develop over time
It is not the answer if
- You are looking for a treatment for obesity or an alternative to weight loss
- You want a visible change within days
- Assessment shows the concern is localised fat alone
- You want one technology chosen before the area has been assessed
How it runs
The areas first,
then the technology,
in that order.

Questions
Before
you book.
What does radio frequency do for the skin?
Radio frequency uses controlled energy to heat tissue beneath the skin. The controlled heating effect supports collagen remodelling, helping to improve the appearance and firmness of the treated skin over time.
Is radio frequency for fat or for loose skin?
It can be used when addressing body contour and the appearance of cellulite, but it is particularly useful where skin laxity and tightening are also concerns. Which is the case for you is established at your consultation.
Is this a weight loss treatment?
No. Body contouring is not intended as a treatment for obesity and it is not an alternative to weight loss. It is designed to target specific areas where additional contouring or skin improvement may be wanted.
How much does a body contouring programme cost?
Bespoke body contouring programmes start from £600. The final cost depends on the areas being treated, the technologies recommended and the number of sessions required, and a full treatment plan and price is discussed with you after your consultation.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies from person to person. Meaningful body contouring develops over a course of treatment rather than in a single session, so your programme is planned and reviewed as a whole and the number recommended for you is set at your consultation.
Next step
If it is the skin
rather than the fat,
say so.
A body contouring consultation at Whiteladies Road establishes what we are actually treating. Where skin laxity is part of the picture, radio frequency is usually part of the answer.
