What LED phototherapy does
Dermalux LED phototherapy uses selected wavelengths of light to support different processes within the skin.
It can be used to support skin rejuvenation, recovery and overall skin health, either as a treatment in its own right or alongside other skin procedures where appropriate.
It is non invasive and requires no downtime, which is unusual enough on a list like this one to be worth saying plainly.
Where it sits in a plan
Two things make LED useful in a considered plan rather than as a novelty. It asks nothing of your diary, and it works comfortably alongside other treatments.
In some cases improving the skin means addressing more than one thing: one treatment focused on texture, another supporting recovery or overall quality. LED is frequently the second of those.
Where this sits in your plan, whether it is used on its own or alongside something else, and how many sessions we recommend, all follow from the assessment rather than from a package chosen in advance.
Why the assessment comes first
Nothing at The Hampton Clinic begins with a treatment. It begins with a consultation and an assessment, because the same concern can have different causes in two different people and the right answer is not always the treatment someone walked in asking about.
If we do not believe this is appropriate for you, or likely to benefit you, we will say so and recommend what we think would serve you better.

What the evidence says
People ask which wavelengths matter and whether a mask bought online does the same thing. Here is the manufacturer's own published specification.
Dermalux publishes that its Tri-Wave MD system emits Blue at 415nm, Red at 633nm and Near Infrared at 830nm, and states the system is indicated for the treatment and management of cosmetic, dermatological and medical indications including skin rejuvenation, acne, pigmentation, psoriasis and healing. Its material lists contraindications including epilepsy or light triggered seizures, porphyria, lupus, photosensitive disorders, active cancers and photosensitising medication.
Those are the manufacturer's figures for the system, not results promised to you. Whether LED is useful on its own for your skin, or better used alongside another treatment, follows from your assessment.
Suitability
Honest about who
it is for.
It may suit you if
- You want to support skin rejuvenation, recovery or overall skin health
- Downtime is not something you can accommodate
- You are having another treatment that recovery support would help
- You would rather build skin quality steadily than chase a single dramatic change
It is not the answer if
- You are expecting a structural change such as tightening or resurfacing
- You want one appointment to resolve a long standing concern
- Your skin has not been assessed yet
- Assessment suggests another approach should come first
How it runs

Questions
Before
you book.
What is Dermalux LED phototherapy?
Dermalux LED phototherapy uses selected wavelengths of light to support different processes within the skin. It can be used to support skin rejuvenation, recovery and overall skin health, either on its own or alongside other skin procedures.
Is there any downtime after LED phototherapy?
No. It is non invasive and requires no downtime.
Can LED be combined with other skin treatments?
Yes. It can be used as a treatment in its own right or alongside other skin procedures where appropriate, which is often how it earns its place in a plan.
Do I need to know which treatment I want before booking?
No. Most people arrive describing a concern rather than requesting a procedure, and that is the more useful way round. Your consultation and skin assessment establish what is bothering you, what is realistically achievable and which treatment, or combination, is appropriate.
What if this turns out not to be suitable for me?
We will tell you, and recommend an alternative where appropriate, rather than proceeding simply because it was the treatment you originally enquired about.
How much does it cost?
Skin treatment plans are quoted after your consultation and skin assessment, because the cost depends on what is being treated and whether more than one approach is appropriate. Your full plan and its cost are set out for you before you commit to anything. The consultation itself is complimentary, secured by a £25 holding fee that is refunded when you attend.
